Summer 2017 Las Vegas Poker Tournament Series
There are hundreds of poker tournaments this summer in Las Vegas. Buy-ins start from $30 for daily tournaments up to World Series of Poker and High Roller events requiring hundreds of thousands of dollars to enter. Poker players at all bankroll levels will find tournaments within their comfort range.
World Series of Poker
The World Series of Poker is the most important tournament series every summer in Las Vegas. It is held at Rio just west of the Las Vegas Strip.
The 48th World Series of Poker starts on May 30 with the Daily Deepstacks. These No Limit Hold’em events are held every day of the World Series of Poker with the following buy-ins and times:
- 2pm: $235
- 5pm: $185
- 7pm: $365
- 9pm: $135
The first bracelet event starts on May 31 at 11am. That is the $565 Casino Employees event. There are 74 total events spanning from May 31 through July 13. The $10,000 Main Event starts on July 8. Players may buy in for one of the first flights that start at 11am on July 8, 9 and 10.
Other notable tournaments include the $565 Colossus III with five separate first flights starting on June 2. Event number six is the $111,111 High Roller for One Drop on June 2. There is a $333 online event on June 3. It is one of three online bracelet events. The other two have buy-ins of $1,000 and $3,333.
2017 World Series of Poker Schedule
Binion’s Dog Days of Summer Poker Jam
Binion’s is where the World Series of Poker originated before Harrah’s Entertainment, now known as Caesars Entertainment, acquired the rights to it and moved the annual event to Rio. Binion’s will offer 37 events from June 3 through July 4. These include two charity events with a $230 buy-in to kick the series off. In addition to No Limit Hold’em, players will find HORSE, Omaha Hi/Low, Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, Seven Card Stud, Omaha/Seven Card Stud, Razz, Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo, Pot Limit Omaha and Triple Stud.
The main event will be an $850 No Limit Hold’em tournament that start on June 25. It is a three-day event.

Planet Hollywood Goliath
Planet Hollywood will spread more than 50 events for its 2017 Summer Goliath series. It starts on May 25 with the $600 Ultimate Goliath Stack. That event offers a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool. The series concludes with a $1,650 main event that offers a $1 million guaranteed prize pool that starts on July 9. Other games include a Pot Limit Omaha, including a $4,750 event, 5-card Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, Pot Limit Omaha Hi and Hi/Lo and Omaha Hi/Lo. There are also $130 daily value stacks at pm as well as other smaller buy-in events in the evening.
Planet Hollywood Goliath Schedule
Aria Poker Classic
Aria is offering three poker tournament series from May 24 through July 9. The High Roller series kicks off on May 24. It offers events from $25,000 up to $300,000. On June 2, the Aria Classic starts. These events are generally held twice a day with buy-ins of either $240 or $400. Games include No Limit Texas Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo Fixed Limit Omaha Hi/Lo and HORSE. There are also multiple senior events. There are also some WPT events towards the end of the summer series.
Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series
The Golden Nugget is holding its Grand Poker Series from May 30 through July 3. There are three events most days. Buy-ins range from $110 to $1,000. Games include No Limit Texas Hold’em, Big O, HORSE, Pot Limit Omaha, Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, Omaha Hi/Lo and a number of mixed games.
Wynn Classic
The Wynn Classic will be held from June 2 through July 16. All events are either No Limit Hold’em or Pot Limit Omaha. Each has a guaranteed prize pool. Most buy-ins are in the $400 to $600 range. There are a few $1,100 tournaments. The main event has a buy-in of $1,600.
Venetian DeepStack Extravaganza
While cash game traffic at Venetian has suffered due to rake and comp changes, the DeepStack Extravaganza is still going strong. The series runs from May 15 through July 23. Buy-ins start at $200 and run as high as $5,000. Most tournaments have guaranteed prize pools.
A vast majority of the tournaments are No Limit Texas Hold’em. There are a few Omaha variants and mixes. This includes Pot Limit Omaha, Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo and Big O.
