MGM Resorts Raises Max Poker Rake in Las Vegas to $5
All MGM Resorts poker rooms raised rake from $4 to $5 this week. The move affects poker rooms at Aria, Bellagio, Excalibur, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand and Mirage. The rake cap at the Luxor poker room remains at $4 until it closes on June 18.
The rake is not the only money MGM takes out of pots. There is a jackpot drop at four of the affected casinos. Excalibur takes a $1 jackpot drop. Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand and Mirage take $2. This money funds promotions like high hands and bad beat jackpots.
While the maximum rake goes up $1, MGM poker players still do not receive automatic parking validation. That requires playing 75 hours of live poker play during an MLife year. This will award poker players with the Pearl tier, which comes with free parking privileges.
There are now just two poker rooms on the Las Vegas Strip that take a $4 max rake. Caesars Palace caps rake at $4 and does not take a jackpot drop. Treasure Island remains at $4 but does have a jackpot drop.
Some poker players consider Stratosphere to be on the Las Vegas Strip. It has a $4 max rake and $1 jackpot drop. Other Las Vegas poker rooms with a $4 rake and $1 jackpot include all Station poker rooms, Sam’s Town, South Point, Binion’s and Golden Nugget.
There are still four poker rooms in Las Vegas that have a $3 max rake. Those are The Orleans, Club Fortune, Suncoast and Skyline Casino. The Orleans takes a $2 jackpot drop. The others drop $1.
