NJ Player Wins Platinum Pass During NJSCOOP
Last month, residents and visitors to the state of New Jersey were able to compete in the PokerStars New Jersey Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). During the series, PokerStars was offering up Platinum Passes, with every player hoping to nab one. Apparently, a resident of the state was able to compete in the low stakes version of the main event and win the coveted $30,000 pass.
Derik Li – Turning $10 into $5k+
On April 30th, Derik Li competed in the $50 buy-in Main Event, outlasting the field of over 1,100 players to earn the win and the Platinum Pass. Amazingly, Li won his seat in the competition via a satellite for just $10. Basically, the poker player was able to use $10 and earn $5,305.32 in prize money with the main event win plus the Platinum Pass, which has a value of $30,000.
Winning the NJ SCOOP Platinum Pass
The Platinum Pass will allow Li to head to the Atlantis Casino in the beautiful Bahamas next January to take part in the PokerStars No-Limit Hold’em Players Championship. This event has a buy-in of $25,000, which the pass covers, along with providing an additional $5,000 in accommodations and travel expenses.
Heading to the Next Year’s NL Hold’em Players Championship
The special event will take place from January 6th to the 10th 2019, providing players with a $9 million contribution from PokerStars to the pot as well as $1,000,000 for the first-place winner. If Li does well in the event, he may turn $10 into a ton of cash, possibly a seven-figure payday!
Chris Moneymaker Also Won Big
The NJSCOOP was a great success with several players cashing in during the tournament events. Poker pro, Chris Moneymaker managed to cash in a few times during the series, including earning two first-place finishes. The well-known pro won the $200 No Limit Hold’em Final Weekend Kickoff as well as the $200 Stud Hi/Lo Event. With the two wins, Moneymaker took home just over $8,000 combined.
