IRS Backs Off Proposed Lowering of W2G Requirements
There is good news for casino players. The IRS has backed off the proposal to start requiring casinos to file W2Gs on slot wins of $600 or more. There also would have been other player tracking requirements that were seen as unfavorable by the gaming industry. The IRS will keep the standard $1,200 slot win and $5,000 live poker tournament win requirements for W2Gs.
